​for Anyone!

South Stage is fortunate to have a full-time Tech Director and part-time Costumer, so many opportunities exist for newbies to learn and grow while making connections.  

​Students interested in tech, stage crew, and costumes are welcome to drop in to the
​Lab Theatre Rm. 9135.

We want a "Standing O" on every show!

In order to get a Gender Parity  "Standing O" designation, a production must meet 
three of five criteria:
For 9 to 5, the Musical:
YES! Have a female director
YES! Have a female playwright
YES! Employ at least a 50 percent female cast.
YES! Employ at least 50 percent female design team.
YES! Tell a female-centered story.​

The Purpose & Mission of South Stage
The purpose of educational theatre is to help students become ethical, thoughtful, and compassionate adults by telling engaging stories with sophisticated characters in challenging situations. Our students learn how to be adults by experiencing the complexities of life in the relative safety of theatre.
To that end, South Stage is dedicated to:

• Facilitating artistic collaboration among a diverse company of students and professional theatre artists
• Developing creative expression, teamwork, and communication skills through the theatre arts
• Producing plays that challenge and educate ourselves and the Newton South community
